About Ol Pejeta Bush Camp

An intimate bush camp on Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth and offering authentic, conservation-driven safari experiences.

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp sits at the heart of the 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy on Kenya's Laikipia Plateau, framed by sweeping views of Mount Kenya to the east and the Aberdare Mountains to the south. This intimate six-tent camp offers an authentic bush safari experience rooted in one of Africa's most important conservation stories — the conservancy is the last refuge of the critically endangered northern white rhinoceros, with only two individuals remaining on Earth. The camp's six canvas tents are thoughtfully simple yet comfortable, embodying the spirit of classic East African safari rather than ostentatious luxury. Each tent is raised on a wooden platform beneath a thatched canopy, featuring comfortable beds with warm duvets, en-suite bathrooms with bush showers, and private verandas looking out over the surrounding savannah. Solar power and water recycling systems reflect the camp's commitment to minimal environmental impact. The communal dining tent serves wholesome, hearty meals around a shared table, fostering the convivial atmosphere that makes bush camp stays so memorable. Evening meals by the campfire are accompanied by the sounds of the African bush — the distant roar of lions, the whooping of hyenas, and the symphony of crickets and frogs. What sets Ol Pejeta apart is its extraordinary conservation pedigree. Guests can visit the northern white rhino enclosure, meet the dedicated rangers who protect them around the clock, and learn about cutting-edge reproductive technologies being developed to save the subspecies from extinction. The conservancy is also home to a chimpanzee sanctuary — the only place in Kenya where chimpanzees can be seen — and hosts one of the highest predator densities in Kenya, with lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, and spotted hyena all resident.

Wildlife

The conservancy is home to the Big Five, including the last two northern white rhinos (Najin and Fatu) and over 150 southern white and black rhinos. Large lion prides, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyena, and African wild dogs are all resident. Over 500 bird species and the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya add to the conservation significance.

Best Time to Visit

Ol Pejeta offers excellent game viewing year-round thanks to the conservancy's permanent water sources. The dry season from June to October concentrates wildlife around waterholes. January to March is warm and dry with excellent visibility of Mount Kenya. The green season brings migrant birds and lush landscapes.
